Chi-Hsin Shao, PE, AICP

Mr. Chi-Hsin Shao is currently the President of CHS Consulting Group. He holds a master’s degree in Infrastructure Planning and Management from Stanford University and a bachelor degree in Architecture from Chung Yuan University in Taiwan. He is a licensed professional Traffic Engineer in the State of California and a certified urban planner (AICP). He has over 30 years of professional experience in transportation planning and engineering. He served on several senior management positions in both public and private sectors, including three years as the Deputy Commissioner of Policy and Planning with the City of Boston Transportation Department (1987-2000). He has also managed projects both in the US and overseas, such as China, Taiwan, The Philippines, Korea, and Vietnam.

Mr. Shao has been active in many professional and civic organizations. He has been on the Board of Directors of the OCA East Bay Chapter for seven years. He also serves on the Board of Directors of San Francisco Planning and Urban Research (SPUR), a think tank in San Francisco, Yerba Buena Alliance, and Yerba Buena Arts and Events. He is also currently the President of International Chinese Transportation Professionals Association (ICTPA). Prior community experience included President of Asian American Architects and Engineers (AAAE), President of Piedmont Asian American Club (PAAC), Chairman of East Bay Chinese School, and Board member of Chinatown Community Development Center (San Francisco), Charity Cultural Services Center (San Francisco), and City of Oakland Business Advisory Committee, appointed by the Mayor of Oakland.
