Kevin Tan Inspires Students at Lincoln Recreation Center

Approximately 60 students and Oakland residents attended the Kids Day Event on June 13, 2009 featuring Olympic Medallist Kevin Tan. Tan spoke to the audience about his life experiences and how he reached the Olympics. After the presentation the audience was given a Q&A period. Some of the questions asked included some serious, "What are your plans for the future?" as well as some not so serious, "What brand shoes do you wear?" and "What famous people have you met?"

Tan then offered the audience time for photographs and autographs.

Other events during the day included the awarding of a $500 scholarship from OCA-EB by Superintendent of Schools Sheila Jordan to OASES student Charles Cheng. Alameda Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker also presented Kevin Tan with a certificate.
