WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA, a national organization dedicated to advancing the political, social, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), announces that Walmart will receive OCA’s 2011 Outstanding Corporate Partner Award at this year’s 20th Anniversary of the National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards on Friday, October 7. The Corporate Achievement Award will be held at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.
“Throughout the years, Walmart has been one of OCA’s most valued and dedicated partners continually supporting our work in the community and within our local OCA chapters,” said OCA National President Ken Lee. “We are proud to present them with this year’s 2011 Corporate Partner Award.”
Walmart continues to demonstrate its commitment to diversity and to OCA’s mission. For more than ten years, Walmart has participated not only in OCA’s signature events such as the Annual National Convention and National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards, but has also provided OCA with funding for local health and wellness programs. The Walmart Foundation also contributes to OCA’s Internship Program which enables more than 20 interns a year to experience a rigorous ten week program exposing first generation APA college students to DC’s political and professional world. Walmart is also a member of OCA’s Business Advisory Council, a vital link between OCA and the business community, providing financial, professional, and strategic guidance to OCA.
OCA’s National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards is the first national program of its kind to recognize corporate achievement and service by celebrating the perseverance and leadership of APA corporate employees. Honorees are first nominated by their respective employers and then selected by a panel of judges. This year OCA will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary of this event and will honor eight APA employees from the corporate sector.
